Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of online therapy vs. in-person therapy?

  • More convenient, efficient and flexible.  Those who need support the most, often have the least amount of free time. With online therapy, you can get support during your lunch break or while the kids are sleeping.

  • Increased comfort. Sitting on your own couch or laying in your own bed during therapy improves your comfort level, which increases your ability to heal.

  • Maximum privacy. No more in-person waiting rooms means no more uncomfortable run-ins with someone you know.  Plus, your electronic privacy is maintained through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth system.

How does confidentiality work?

  • Briefly, everything said during a therapy session is completely confidential with three exceptions: 1) if a child is in danger, 2) if you are in danger of harming yourself, or 3) if you are planning on harming another person.

How long does therapy take?

  • The frequency and length of therapy is highly individualized and dependent on many factors.  It is a collaborative and dynamic process discussed in and throughout treatment. Recommendations can be suggested by the therapist, but ultimately, the client decides on the frequency and length of treatment that will best meet their needs.

What are the fees?

  • The rate for individual therapy is $160 per 50 minute session.

  • The rate for couples therapy is $185 per 50 minute session.

  • Payment is due at time of service. Online storage of credit card information through Ivy Pay is required for automatic, recurring processing.

  • To determine the total estimated cost over the course of a year, simply multiply the fee per session by the number of anticipated sessions.

Do you accept insurance?

  • Insurance is not accepted.  An invoice or super bill can be provided to help you get reimbursed from your insurance company.  Contact your insurance company directly to confirm your out-of-network mental health benefits.  Suggested questions to ask are: What are my mental health benefits? What is my deductible? What is my out-of-pocket max? Do you cover session code 90834?

What methods of payment do you accept?

  • All major credit cards and FSA / HSA cards are accepted. A credit card on file is required to book an appointment.

What is Ivy Pay?

  • Ivy Pay is a credit card payment system designed specifically for therapy.  It works with debit / credit cards and HSA / FSA accounts. It is HIPAA secure and keeps therapeutic relationships confidential.
